Orlistat Xenical – I just HAD to Try it!!

by Shmelly Cat on August 2, 2010

About ten years ago, my cousin’s girlfriend told me about Xenical.

I did not feel the need to try it back then. I suppose, I WAS thinner back then (waist measurement ten years ago: 25 inches).

Since I’ve grown… SIDEWAYS… and since my Balance Stepper is sadly sitting in a corner of my living room waiting for me to continue using it, I decided to use Xenical about a month ago.

It is hard to admit failure. But I must be honest. I did not have enough determination to use the Balance Stepper everyday, unless I receive encouragement. The Balance Stepper DID help a little, of course, since ANY kind of exercise is useful.

In fact, it made my bum firmer, and more importantly, I don’t have so much trouble walking down the stairs anymore. Before, I had trouble bending my knees because they’d hurt. Also, I believe that the Balance Stepper has also helped me keep my balance – I don’t stumble as often anymore.

The problem is, it did not make me lose much weight – fast. So I tried Xenical. I purchased 2 boxes.

Xenical Dosage: 3 times a day, with every meal.

Cost of Xenical: Here lies problem number 1. It’s VERY expensive. It costs around PhP 45 PER CAPSULE. And there are 21 capsules in a box, good for 7 days. So it costs around Php945 per box.

Xenical Effects: It was hard to believe but it’s true!! Every time I went to – forgive me but I can’t find a better way to say this – take a dump, it included orange-colored oil.

Many people have told me, that it’s dissolved fat from your body, however, I did lots of research, and I also read the small leaflet that came with the box. This orange oil, is NOT dissolved fat from my body. According to Xenical.com, “XENICAL helps block about one-third of the fat in the foods you eat from being absorbed by your body.”

To prove this, eat some oily food. You’ll notice lots of oil in your stool. If you eat something that’s not so oily, then there’s less oil in your stool.

Personal Side Effects I’m sure the side effects vary per person, but here are mine: fecal urgency, and gas with fecal discharge. The latter, is hard to control. It’s a good thing that I work at home (accidents have happened!! Gross!!)

Would I recommend this to my friends?
1. Yes – IF you eat lots of fast food/oily food daily.
2. Yes – IF you have money to spare, and you don’t mind the side effects.
3. No – IF you don’t eat lots of fast food/oily food daily, and this product does not fit your budget.
4. No – IF you are not prepared for other possible side-effects. Please do research.

The leaflet states that effects will BEGIN to be noticeable after 2 weeks. Since I’ve only used it for two weeks, I have not noticed any considerable weight loss. I did not have the patience or the budget to continue using it.

I’ve also adjusted my food intake. Before I finished the second box, I stopped eating lots of fast food, and I knew that I didn’t eat a lot oily food anymore (I could tell from my fecal discharge :D ) therefore, I won’t be using Xenical again. Since I’ve stopped gaining weight, and I’m not losing much either, I realized that the next thing that was to reduce my rice intake :P

In my next post, I’ll describe another exciting discovery that is helping me solve my eating problem! :D Stay tuned…

PS: If you have any experiences using Xenical, I’d love to hear about them :D
